I am coming down from Sequim thru Shelton to watch the Wishkah--Lyle/Wishram football game on the Sept. 25. I don't want to drive all the way to Aberdeen and then up river. I have heard you can get there on roads somewhere around Montesano. If this is true and a shorter, faster way please give me directions.

normally yes but not right now, the crossover road we call 13 corners(wynooche-wishkah) is closed b/c they are paving it and straghtening the road,(now 4 corners i guess) ,so the drive up the valley is inevitable, but from squim it may be faster to drive the other way along the coast ?

Thanks for the info. It takes me about 2 hours to go from Sequim to McCleary unless slow traffic around the Canal. At least one more hour from McCleary to Wishkah. From Sequim to Forks via the coast route (101 around Lake Crescent) it would take me around 1 1/2 hours, then another 2 hours or more to Wishkah if I take the cut off road ( around mile post 102) instead of driving all the way to Hoquiam or Aberdeen. If you drive into Aberdeen and then up river add 1 more hour to the drive. Could add another 30 min. on this route if you get bogged down in slow traffic. How do you guys get to Matlock from Wishkah ? There are some back roads there also, but don't know how good or well marked

Yeah it would be the same way in a personal vehicle(13 corners) then north to the Matlock cut-off rd (gravel half way-my understanding) , but the bus takes the Wishkah Rd. though aberdeen to Brady and then up 20 miles or so to Matlock.

About 175 miles coast route from Sequim. But you can go like a raped ape on the coast route.
About 140 miles Shelton, McCleary, Aberdeen and up river from Sequim. This way I can drop by Stewart field and look at new turf. Also see my old girl friend from when I was a Choker at GHCC.

I'd take the coast route. Nice easy 60 mph speed limit a lot of the way. No traffic. School is a about 15 min when you get to Youmans.
The back road to Matlock is 13 corners to Wynooche Valley RD. Ten miles up towards the dam, the across Cougar Smith RD. Problem is it's half gravel and has a 1 lane bridge. Not exactly the easiest road for a bus, and doesn't save much time. It is marked pretty good now that they have paved the last 18 miles of the Wynooche Valley Rd up to the Dam.
