Henry Matai from Lyle/Wishram is certainly a tough package considering he has both the size and the speed combination that you rarely see at this level. He has to be considered the man ahead of the pack in my opinion at this time. With L/W eligible now and in the PCL South the Cougar boys finally have something they can see out in front of them. They can compete for a real league title, playoffs, and State. I expect a very good year out of the kid, especially if L/W can find a way to prevent defenses from stacking against him. Last year they had his brother (Allen) to help that, this year...we'll see?
Lummi has some backs capable of good numbers but they throw a lot as well, just seems to depend on who they are playing on what they ride with. Eddy Williams is a good runner with great potential to have a big year for them if he stays healthy and can get plenty of carries.
Neah Bay has a two-headed monster at running back in Titus Pascua and Evan Bowechop. I am pretty sure both are returning (although I have been wrong with the some PCL schools on what year they show they are on rosters before - certainly not being smart here - easy coach K - just has happened). If they both do indeed return then Neah Bay with have two good (but different) threats in their backfield once again.
Cody Jess from ACH is also a good runner in the NE. Columbia always seems to have a hard nosed runner, it was Larrew last year, not sure who the man will be this year yet.
Returning RB's on the radar at this time
1. Henry Matai, Lyle/Wishram
2. Eddy Williams, Lummi
3. Evan Bowechop, Neah Bay
4. Cody Jess, ACH
5. Titus Pascua, Neah Bay
*This list does not include new teams to the 8-man ranks nor does it include players switching positions. Just the 5 running backs that I know right now that are returning after having good years last season.
Please add to this list anyone that you know of that should be a productive running back for their respective team next season.
