I have been going back and forth since Saturday.
These teams have two of the best coaches in the State. They have the abilty and connections to gameplan as well as anyone.
Man, both teams are athletic and have the ability to score as many points as anyone. But don't forget the defense either.
I want to pick Lummi to represent the PCL North, but.....I guess if I had to pick now, I would go with Tri-Cities Prep. For Hoppes, I think this will be a great finish to one of the best high school careers we have ever seen at the 8 man level.
Hey, I might change my mind a few more times before this weekend, ;D but as of right now, I'll take TCP in a close one.

I am looking at this two ways and neither helps me decide really...
First, Lummi really turned the corner and averaging 66 points a game offensively while holding their opponents to just under 27 points a game defensively in their three playoff games (Taholah 6-5, Wishkah Valley (9-3), Neah Bay (12-1). Then, they made it to the Final after avenging two previous losses to Neah Bay. Prior to the semi-final game, Neah Bay had not surrendered more than 28 points to anyone other than Lummi's 30 in week 9. Lummi is playing great football right now!
Second, TCP's defense played excellent in their win over Cusick, holding the high powered Panthers to a season low 26 points in the 42-26 win. In their three wins over NE teams (Cusick 12-1, ACH 10-2, Wilbur-Creston 7-4) in the playoffs, TCP's defense gave up an average of just 16 points per game. The Jaguar offense is averaged 48 points per game in those three wins. Cusick had not surrendered more than 26 points to anyone all season long and had only gave up 13.8 points per game in their first 12 of the season.
What does all of this mean? Well, add in two great coaching minds and I think we will have a very entertaining championship football game!

Was talking this over with some Eastside B-8 geeks. General consensus: No one dare underestimate Dan Whitsett, at their peril. And no one dare underestimate Jim Sandusky, at their peril.
I saw one of the epic B-8 battles last Saturday between Cusick and TCP. I was reminded of the TCP/LW game in Washtucna last year. This Gold Ball game on Friday should be as good if not better than those games.
