What are the impressive stats around the state as of right now?

Colton's Sam Robertson pushes his TD total to 34 after 7 games. At or near 2000 all-purpose yds unofficially.

Robertson is a very good running back that can also catch the ball. He had a great game against us last night.
Both Matai brothers for Lyle/Wishram are over 1200 yards each so far this year through 7 games. I don't know the exact yardage, but they are having great years also.

Robertson had a good game at Lyle. The Matai brothers are something else to look out for in this league.

Hi wvhsfan, Robertson hasn't made the list yet, except for TD's in a game (8 vs Joseph). I think you're looking at another Colton alum, Nick Bates, who was a speedster about 10 years ago. FYI, Bates ended up at EWU. Robertson is a Tailback/slotback type. Colton has a good young QB in Josh Strong who has great poise and a good arm for a Sophomore. He would probably like to see Robertson graduate so he can throw more. :-)

And the Colton coach knows about throwing. Straughn should be just fine next year without Robertson.

Robertson's pretty tough. Roberston is VERY tough. I'd want him in my foxhole on the front lines.

Congrats to Mr. Heaward on a stellar season. His name will be in the record books for along time. It's too bad he isn't able to extend his season. He has done all he can to distinguish himself. I have seen very good running backs who had the misfortune of playing on teams that were undersized or out-manned in tough leagues(Walter Payton). I've also seen decent backs have huge numbers thanks to great blocking(Shawn Alexander). :-) I have enjoyed watching some great athletes re-write the record books this season, especially the career records of Will Hoppes, et al. It's hard to judge an athlete by stats alone, but most of the names on that list went on to play football on Saturdays. Congrats to all the athletes and coaches who continue to make B-8 football the most exciting game in the state.

Hoppes and Cusick QB Shanholtzer dominated the headlines this season and rightfully so. But don't overlook another amazing performance by Josh Straughan at Colton. Only a soph, he had over 2500 yds on 136 / 221 for a 62% completion rate. More impressive, no one in the state threw that many times and only 3 interceptions. Remember Colton's schedule included 6 games against top 10-ranked teams including a win over Idaho state champ Salmon River. Josh will have a stable full of recievers next year as well. The game between TCP and Colton was a great QB dual. He should be the premier QB in the state next year.
