If a 9th grade transfer student is approved by the WIAA board after an interview meeting beginning of September to be eligible for the upcoming football season, can that change during the football season? This is a situation happening in our community and I was wondering how, if everything the transfer student and his family stated was approved, how can it be re-looked at. The facts have not changed, the issues they are bringing back up are ones that were answered in the meeting. The meeting was approximately 20 minutes long, the family was asked to step outside, 10 minute board discussion, player brought back in and approval was granted. Now, the family must go back to another meeting Thursday for the remainder of football season. It just seems to be a very unfair process they are putting the student and his family through. Does anyone know if the WIAA can change their mind mid-season, and what it will do for the remainder of the school year?? Just remember, everything that the old school is bringing up, was brought up and answered by the player and family, and he was approved in September.

I think that they can change their minds "if" new information regarding the case is brought to them that would make a significant contribution to overturning their initial decision. Kind of like the court system.

The "sending school" can always challenge the ruling of the Eligibility Committee. This is the first time I can recall it happening in District 7.
