The Olympian - TYLER HEMSTREET; Contributing writer Reynolds delivers in overtimeBrian Reynolds’ 4 TDs lift Morton/White Pass to 27-21 OT win TACOMA – After bursting through the line for the winning touchdown, Morton/White Pass sophomore running back Brian Reynolds laid in the end zone for a minute to let it all sink in. It was rest that was well-deserved. Reynolds rushed for 130 yards on 23 carries and scored all four of the Timberwolves’ touchdowns as Morton/White Pass defeated Napavine, 27-21 in overtime, in a Class 2B state semifinal on Friday at the Tacoma Dome. The fourth-ranked Timberwolves will play the winner of today’s Waitsburg/Prescott vs. Colfax game at 4 p.m. on Dec. 3 at the Tacoma Dome. “I never expected (to make it to the title game) my sophomore year,” Reynolds said. “Something just clicked with my team.” After fifth-ranked Napavine (11-2) failed to score on its opening possession of overtime, Reynolds carried the ball on five plays in a row, finally scoring on a 1-yard touchdown plunge to end the game. He soaked in the moment, staring up at the cavernous dome. The sophomore’s run capped a huge comeback for the Timberwolves. Down 21-7 entering the fourth quarter, Reynolds scored on a 15-yard run on the first play of the quarter. Morton/White Pass (11-1) got the ball minutes later and needed eight plays to go 27 yards. Reynolds capped it off with a 1-yard touchdown run with 4 minutes, 50 seconds left. “There comes a point in every season where you have to look at yourself and see what you’re made of,” Morton/White Pass first-year coach Aaron Poquette said. “I think our time was in the fourth quarter.” Napavine ran just eight plays in the fourth quarter and committed three costly penalties in its overtime possession. The Tigers took a 21-7 lead with 5:10 left in the third quarter on an 8-yard TD run by Ro Sevilla. Despite scoring on a 41-yard screen pass in the first quarter, Reynolds was held to 17 rushing yards in the first half. “I told my line if they block for me I’ll make things happen for us,” he said. “I was telling my line and my team, ‘We’re not losing this game. We’ve got 24 minutes; find it in your heart.’ ” Read more: www.theolympian.com/2011/11/26/v-print/1891204/reynolds-delivers-in-overtime.html#ixzz1fJcv4x9l
